Dr. Matt Ayars

PhD University of Chester/St. John’s College (UK); M.A., Wesley Biblical Seminary; B.A., Asbury College (now University).


Matt and his wife, Stacey, have three daughters and one son. His work at Emmaus began in August 2007 as Professor of Old Testament. In preparing for ministry at Emmaus in Haiti, Matt and Stacey lived in Quebec, Canada from January-April 2007 to study French. In July 2010, Matt was named the Vice-Rector at Emmaus and became the Rector in July 2012.

Research Interests

Masoretic Studies, OT Theology, Biblical Theology, Literature and Theology of Isaiah, Literary Criticism, Hebrew Poetry and linguistic dynamics of Hermeneutics, new perspectivism, Wesleyan theology, soteriology.
